Deforestation and Flood

Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale, resulting in demage to the quality of the land.

Deforestation plays many roles  in flooding equation because tree prevent sediment runoffs and forest hold more water than grasslands or farms.
A single tree can actually helps in reducing the effects of flooding. Some rain water stays on leaves and evaporate back into atmosphere. They reduce the impact of raindrops on the soil, which caused less soil erosion. And its roots absorb water from soil.
Deforestation causes flash floods and also cause mudflow that is much more destructive than normal flood water.

For the last many years, deforestation and cutting of deodar trees are taking place in the forest areas of Drosh, Arandu, Domail and Chitral.
The forest departmentent's primary role is the protection of forest, but in Chitral instead of protecting , it is promoting timber mafia.
